Abstract   |   Authors   |   References
We have conducted the research to assess the breed and pedigree resources of the Holstein Russian Black Pied cattle in the regions of its breeding in the Russian Federation for the period 2016–2021. We have studied the productive and reproductive qualities of cows, reflected a brief characteristic of the pedigree base of the breed, and determined the available stock of sperm production at specialized enterprises. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that during the evaluation of the Holstein Russian Black Pied cattle, we identified a number of cows and bulls-producers, their location at the enterprises of all categories of farming in the context of federal districts and regions of the RF entities, the provision of breeding stock of herds with bulls-producers seed in comparison with black and white cattle of other Russian breeds (Russian Black Pied and Holmogor cattle). The practical significance of assessing breed and pedigree resources of cattle of the Holstein Russian Black Pied cattle consists in the fact that according to the Procedure for determination of breed (breedness) of pedigree animals adopted by the decision of the Eurasian Economic Commission board, in some breeding herds of Russian breeds (Russian Black Pied, Holmogor cattle etc.) there is a need to change their status to Holstein (improving) due to increase in its high blood ratio. Economic component of the scientific research carried out is connected with increasing of both productive and reproductive qualities of individuals in domestic herds of the Russian Black Pied cattle with high proportion of the Holstein (improving) blood, as well as growing supply of highly demanded breeding material of the Holstein breed of domestic selection in the Russian market, which will eventually lead to increased competitiveness of dairy cattle breeding industry of the country
