An important task of dairy farming at the present stage is to increase the period of cows’ economic use, as longer animals’ use contributes to better organization of breeding work with the herd, thereby increasing the efficiency of livestock farming. In this regard, the main purpose of the research is to establish mutual relations between the black-and-white breed cows’ productive longevity and the degree of Holstein breed pedigree. The influence of the degree of Holstein animals on life expectancy, productivity and reproductive quality of cows is studied. The novelty of the study is to determine the optimal proportion of Holstein (improving) breed pedigree taking into account the studied indicators. An electronic information base has been formed on the basis of the Collective farm “Peredovoy” for carrying out the research. The base included data on 1126 animals which left during the period of 2007-2017 inclusive and had not less than one finished lactation. The longevity and reproductive qualities analysis were carried out over a seven-year period from the date of the first calving. The research used general scientific methods: statistical, analytical. It was found that the cows having 51-75% of Holstein breed pedigree were longer used (3.7 lactation and 48.0 months) and showed maximum productivity during life (34074 kg) in the herd of the Collective farm “Peredovoy”. In addition, these animals produced the largest number of live calves (4.2 heads). Concerning the reproductive qualities, the growth of pedigree to more than 75% caused an increase in the number of days to first insemination, which indicates animals’ slower recovery the after calving, increasing the frequency of insemination and, as a consequence, the lengthening of service and calving periods. Thus, with an increase in the pedigree of black-and-white cattle on the improving (Holstein) breed, the reproductive and productive qualities of dairy cattle are improved, but to a certain level
